"You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies; you anoint my head with oil; my cup overflows."

Psalm 23:5

There are seasons in our lives when we feel helplessly alone. We feel shut off from the outside world with no one who understands or who can help.

In this moment may we be reminded who our Shepherd is. Our Lord is the Creator of heaven and earth. He brought everything into existence out of nothing and continues to hold all things together. We can never be cut off from Him. If we cannot be separated from God then we cannot be disconnected from His help.

The child of God finds that the Lord supplies peace amid the storm and He will help us in time of need. God continues to provide for us as we look to Him. You will never be put to shame for trusting the Lord. He will supply our daily bread.

"The peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus."

Philippians 4:7

Beloved, are you in need of peace today? Is your heart overwhelmed with the cares of life? How shall we obtain a peace that surpasses all that we understand in the reality of life?

The promise of God's peace is not empty. It is a promise founded on the truthfulness of God's nature and word. The peace of God is received when we come to the Lord with our needs. We believe that He is willing and able to help us.

Let us come to the Lord in prayer today. Cast your cares upon Him with confidence. Know that you are heard and God is willing to help. The Spirit of the Lord will fill us with peace as we draw close through prayer and stand upon the Word of God.

"God, be merciful to me, a sinner!"

Luke 18:13

What shall be our plea before God? On what grounds shall we ask for mercy?

In this world, we often present all the positive reasons why someone should help us or give us some benefit in life. We explain how well we work, what we have accomplished, and why we deserve what we request.

Before the Lord, there are no such claims. There is nothing we can boast of or offer as merit. The only thing we can confess is that we are hopeless sinners. Our cry is mercy. We beseech God and His mercy. This is our only hope. Thankfully, we shall not be turned away but receive the mercy of God in Christ.

Let us seek the mercy of God today and confess our need for Him.
