A Job Well Done | May 6th

“I am sure of this, that he who began a good work in you will bring it to completion at the day of Jesus Christ.”

   Philippians 1:6

Beloved, in our pursuit of godliness, we may sometimes perceive our transformation as slow or question whether it will ever be complete. While we are responsible for yielding to the Holy Spirit and seeking God, this verse reminds us that salvation ultimately belongs to God. Christ has saved us and continues to sustain us.

The Holy Spirit is actively working in and through our lives, whether or not we recognize this activity. At times, it is clear that we have changed significantly since first coming to the Lord. On other days, as we struggle with our flesh, confront the prevailing spirit of the age, and face conflict, we may become more conscious of our shortcomings than of the fruits of the Spirit.

It is beneficial for us to look to Christ each day and to remember that God has saved us and is faithfully working toward our completion. His love for us is unwavering. This assurance means we will not be abandoned or left to ourselves. Trust that God acts intentionally in every circumstance of your life. The providence of God encompasses all situations, and He is working all things for the good of your salvation. To be born again is a divine and supernatural work of God; it originates with Him, is accomplished by Him, and is completed by Him. This is the promise of God in Christ.

In Christ Alone.
