"It is vain that you rise up early and go late to rest, eating the bread of anxious toil; for he gives to his beloved sleep."

Psalm 127:2

It can be an advantage to rise early with intentions to accomplish a task or to stay up late to ensure that responsibilities are taken care of. However, this does not always guarantee success. These actions require a disciplined and mature character, but in all of this, we still must look to the Lord for His will and guidance.

Things done in our strength can lead us to eat the bread of sorrow. Our strength is fleeting, our wisdom imperfect, and we do not have a clear understanding of the future. Only God is omnipotent, wise, and eternal.

We must look to the Lord for all things. We must depend upon Him and follow the Lord. In the will of God is sleep for His beloved. The Lord grants rest to those who look to Him and rely upon His grace and provision. Let us trust the Lord today.

In Christ Alone,

Pastor Wight
