Confession and Renewal

“Hide your face from my sins, and blot out all my iniquities. Create in me a clean heart, O God, and renew a right spirit within me.”

   Psalm 51:9

Beloved, while we are saved by grace alone through Christ alone, confession remains essential. Our salvation is secure, yet when we falter, yield to our old nature, or become dulled by the influences of this age, we must humble ourselves before the Lord in repentance.

Confession of sin and failure, accompanied by a plea for God’s grace, cultivates humility within us. It reminds us of our continual dependence on the Holy Spirit and our inability to stand alone. As you pray for your needs and entrust your concerns to the Lord, remember also the importance of humble confession and repentance.

Acknowledge before the Lord your need for Him and for His ongoing work of sanctification. David asked the Lord to cleanse his heart, and he is not alone in this request. The Lord graciously offers to cleanse us and renew a right spirit within us. This process of grace continues throughout our lives in this fallen world. Such awareness is not an excuse but a recognition of God’s holiness and our shortcomings. Our position remains secure in the Lord as He transforms us; therefore, let us affirm our dependence on Him today.

In Christ Alone.
