  “ Deliver us from evil.”

  Matthew 613

Beloved, do you consider yourself sufficiently strong to resist all forms of evil or to overcome it in every circumstance? The Lord’s Prayer affirms that our ultimate victory is granted by God alone.

Scripture instructs us to contend with wickedness, and in this struggle, we are called to put on the full armor of God and to rely on the strength of God's power. Nevertheless, we must acknowledge that we do not always possess the faith, desire, fortitude, or capacity to overcome the evil both within and outside our hearts.

Thankfully, the Captain of our salvation intervenes in our weakest moments and keeps us from being utterly swept away by the enemy of our soul. We are not valiant knights who always win the day. Though we fight the good fight of faith, Christ alone has won the victory, and to Him we plead for daily deliverance from evil. Mercy has spared us from evil when our hands were too weak to fight. Let us pray that we will be delivered from evil today.

In Christ Alone.
