And I heard a voice from heaven saying, "Write this: Blessed are the dead who died in the Lord from now on." "Blessed indeed," says the Spirit, "that they may rest from their labors, for their deeds follow them!"

Revelation 14:13

The believer alone has this promise of eternal rest in Christ. The Lord told us that in this life, we would have tribulation, but to be of good courage, for He had overcome this world. The Comforter has come to help us and encourage us through each day. But we still become weary and need time to refresh.

The day is coming when we shall depart from this life. But we do not need to fear what awaits us. Our Savior has already gone ahead to prepare a place for us. A place when shall cease from all of our labors and there will be no more turmoil.

There will no longer be any struggle with our sinful nature, the spirit of this age, or the enemy of our soul. Faith will behold all that we believe and sought for. It will be a day of rejoicing and overwhelming peace for the saint who dies in Christ.

In Christ Alone,

Pastor Wight
