" After my skin has been thus destroyed, yet in my flesh I shall see God."

Job 19:26

There is a slow progression of the outward man passing away, a slow unraveling of our physical nature. Illness bears upon us the vulnerability and weakness of our nature. We can be strong and independent one day and completely dependent upon the assistance of others in a moment. These moments can be discouraging, but it is not the final story.

With the rising of every morning, we are giving a living example that we shall not ultimately destroyed. Every time we become well and rise from the bed of affliction we are given the foretaste of what is yet to come.

Though our skin be destroyed here, it is with this same body we shall stand before God. Christ rose and ascended into heaven with His body and we shall meet God in the resurrection. Christ redeemed our soul and body, both will be made new and dwell with God forever. If you are weary or ill take hope in the promise, that in our flesh we shall see God.

In Christ Alone,

Pastor Wight
