"They desire a better country, that is, a heavenly one. Therefore God is not ashamed to be called their God, for he has prepared for them a city."

Hebrews 11:16

We need help believing that there is a better country. We create a home that is comfortable for us. There are the pleasures we enjoy in our community and the places we go for entertainment. We have moments of relaxation and security measures bringing us peace.

We also realize that none of this lasts forever. No matter how hard we work, everything deteriorates over time. There is always a present uncertainty that is unsettling.

Regardless of the pleasures and sufferings of this life, there is a better country awaiting. That pleasant land is without suffering and sorrow. There are no needs in that distant land, and you will never say farewell there. It is a place beyond description and our wild imagination. It is a real place. We shall experience it with all our senses. In that far country, we will be content forever. God is not ashamed of those looking to Him for safe travel there. Our Lord has gone ahead and prepared a place for us. So let us keep in step with the Spirit until we enter that better country.

In Christ Alone.
