"He who goes out weeping, bearing the seed for sowing, shall come home with shouts of joy, bringing his sheaves with him."

Psalm 126:6

Beloved, what seeds have you planted with tears? It is hard to imagine that there will be a harvest of rejoicing when all there is is grief. In the moment of pain, we do not anticipate a time when there will be shouts of joy.

The promise is the place of sorrow will turn into a harvest of joy. You do not think joy will spring from pain. God, who works all things for the good of our salvation, can turn our mourning into dancing. He can change the nature of seeds and cause them to multiply so that we return with sheaves of rejoicing.

In this life, we will know the depths of sadness and hope for times of rejoicing. The promise is that there is comfort in all of our days and times of great rejoicing, but there is coming a time of abundant harvest when joy and peace will have no end. Sighing and sorrow will flee away one final day. Let us anticipate the sheaves of rejoicing for our prayers planted with tears.

In Christ Alone,

Pastor Wight
