"I am the vine; you are the branches. Whoever abides in me and I in him, he it is that bears much fruit, for apart from me you can do nothing."

John 15:5

It is green-up time! We are well into spring, the grass is green, and the flowers are blooming. Soon, we will plant vegetables with the hopes of a harvest. This process of planting and reaping takes time. For many weeks, there has been no evidence of life, never mind a harvest.

Sometimes it is that you can do nothing, that we identify with more than bearing much fruit. We can often feel like barren soil, but we must trust that the seed sown within our heart has life. The Lord will bring forth His fruit within our lives. God is faithful to finish the good work He began in us.

Only the child of God looks earnestly for the new shoots of the Holy Spirit's fruit. Only the godly are concerned about righteousness and holiness within one's life. Beloved, let us trust that the Spirit of God is working in us, and there is evidence of the new life in Christ. As we abide in Christ, His fruit will come.

In Christ Alone.
