Nothing in Vain | March 13th

"Therefore, my beloved brothers, be steadfast, immovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, knowing that in the Lord your labor is not in vain."

1 Corinthians 15:58

Beloved, how do we know that our labor is not in vain? Part of the answer is within this verse. "Always abound in the work of the Lord." There is no assurance of labor not being in vain if we are not doing the will of God by His grace and power. Only when we are doing the will of God in His strength do we have the assurance that nothing is in vain.

We should not allow our pride or insecurity to estimate the value of what is done. What helps us to be steadfast and immovable is the conviction that the chief end of our existence is to live for the glory of God and enjoy Him forever.

All of who we are is for Him. All that we do is for the glory of God. In every day and every task, we want it to please the Lord. We are not concerned about getting attention or being reimbursed for what we do. Our private and public life is for the Lord. We desire others to look to God and give glory to Him.

We simply want to be faithful to the Lord. This is how we know nothing done for Him is in vain. Because God's will is being done for His glory alone.

In Christ Alone.
