Out of the Darkness | Dec. 5th

“The people who walked in darkness have seen a great light; those who dwelt in a land of deep darkness, on them has light shone.”

   Isaiah 9:2

Beloved, it is difficult to recognize the depth of our own darkness when we have been living in it for so long. Only the glory of the light can dispel that darkness and bring hope to those who have been walking in its shadow.

It is like falling asleep on the couch in front of others, unaware of your surroundings and condition, until someone else awakens you. Sin blinds us to our condition. It clouds our minds, making it difficult to discern what is righteous and holy. Only Christ can bring light into our darkness and enable us to walk in His righteousness and truth.

Let us be grateful that Christ has shone upon our hearts. He has healed us from spiritual blindness and given us a new heart—one that loves Him and detests the darkness of sin. May we walk boldly in His light, holding fast to His truth, and live each day with thankfulness, testifying to the greatness of His deliverance.

In Christ Alone.
