"And the ransom of the Lord shall return and come to Zion with singing; everlasting joy shall be upon their heads; they shall obtain gladness and joy, and sorrow and sighing shall flee away."

Isaiah 51:11

Beloved, if these words were in any place other than scripture, we would have cause to doubt them. Thankfully, they are found in the Word of God, set forth as a promise. The Lord is unlike a man who changes His mind or cannot fulfill His word. The promises of God are sure and true.

It may be difficult for us to imagine a life without sorrow but such a time is in our future. We sigh with heavy hearts in this world, overwhelmed with pressing needs and from the weariness that plagues body and spirit. Soon sighing and sorrow will flee away, and all that will remain is everlasting joy. A time when singing will replace sighing for all of eternity.

This is a promise given to us by our heavenly Father. Christ removed our sins from us and He will also remove all sorrow in that glorious morning. What God has spoken still awaits the appointed time but it will not delay and prove true. God keeps His word.

In Christ Alone,

Pastor Wight
