 “Do you not remember?”

  Mark 8:18

  Beloved, before we criticize how the disciples could have forgotten the miracle of feeding the multitude and misunderstood the warning of Jesus. Let us consider how we have forgotten all that has been done for us through the death and resurrection of Christ when we have become anxious about our daily needs.

  We may be quick to assume that if we had seen such a miracle, we would not worry about how much bread we have or any of life's cares. The reality is that God has provided a miracle that far surpasses feeding both multitudes.

  Christ, the Bread of Life, was broken for us so that we might receive eternal life. He rose on the third day and ascended into heaven as our great high priest. We approach the throne of grace in His name and seek the promises of God through Christ. The Lord has answered repeatedly. Yet, we continue to struggle with anxiety, question whether He hears us, and doubt God’s goodness during times of trial.

  Thankfully, God has promised never to forsake us, and the Holy Spirit, the Comforter, has come to remind us of God’s goodness, to help us understand the truth of Scripture, and to encourage us. Therefore, take heart and remember that we are saved by grace through faith in Christ alone.
