"They who wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings like eagles;"

Isaiah 40:31

Isaiah did not see a bald eagle when given this promise to God's people, but the poetic imagery applies to us.

The other afternoon, I witnessed two majestic bald eagles soaring high in the air, their white heads and tails glowing in the sun against the blue sky. They were suspended between heaven and earth, and it was a beautiful sight.

The witness of God within His creation is awe-inspiring. It is the appearance of their effortless flight and dependency upon the air currents that calls for our attention. These currents help eagles to conserve energy.

We are earthy but are always traveling heavenward. We cannot carry on in our own strength and wisdom. We are dependent upon the grace of God. The pull of this world constantly strains against us but we are drawing ever closer to home and it will not be long before we are caught up to meet our Lord. Let His grace renew your strength today.

In Christ Alone.
