Strength For the Journey | Sep 17th

“If I send them away hungry to their homes, they will faint on the way.”

   Mark 8:3

Beloved, the concern Jesus showed for those who had been with Him for three days has never diminished. In a similar fashion, an Angel awoke Elijah and told him to eat, for the journey was too great for him. The compassion of God has not changed, nor has the difficulty for God’s people who travel through a weary land.

It is not shameful to admit that we are unable to follow the narrow path through our own wisdom and strength, since we cannot combat darkness and wickedness with natural methods nor prevail over our flesh and the spirit of this age by our own power.

On that day, Jesus provided the crowd with natural food through supernatural means. The Bread of Life permitted His body to be broken for us, enabling us to live for God. The Holy Spirit empowers believers to resist the adversary of the soul, subdue the flesh, persevere in their spiritual journey, and endure by grace until the end. The journey remains too great for us, and without the mercy of the Lord, we would falter along the way.

In times of weariness, God remains unchanging, and His faithfulness and compassion sustain us daily. Turn to the Lord today; He will not send you away hungry or empty.

In Christ Alone.
