Wrath and Mercy | May 21st

"O Lord, I have heard the report of you, and your work, O Lord, do I fear. In the midst of the years revive it; in the midst of the years make it known; in wrath remember mercy."

Habakkuk 3:2

God's wrath is awesome and real. We should dread it and understand the severity of His justice. However, God's wrath is not misguided or unjust; He is righteous in all His ways.

Our plea is for mercy. We have been ransomed in Christ, reconciled unto God, and our sins taken from us, as far as the east is from the west. Until we come to Christ, the wrath of God is stored up against us, and we are without God and hope in this world.

The peril of sin blinds us to our need of a Savior, but Christ sought us and called us unto Himself. The Good Shepherd laid down His life, and now we live in Him to the glory of the Father. Let us rejoice in the mercy of God. We once were lost and have been found.

In Christ Alone.
