"Christ also suffered for you."

1 Peter 2:21

Beloved, if you are suffering today, be not dismayed. The Lord has bared our iniquity and sorrows. The Lord suffered for us, and His love for us is steadfast. He will not permit you to endure alone.

God has promised to comfort His people, to supply mercy for each new day. His grace will prove to be sufficient amid sorrow and pain. The peace He provides is unexplainable at times. Though the burden is heavy, there is deep reassurance of God's love for us when we look to the cross and think about how much our Savior endured for us.

Look to the Lord amid your tears and recall the tears of Christ the Redeemer in the garden. Recall how He was willing to take the cup we could not bear. Christ suffered because He loves you, and nothing can separate you from Him.

"What do you think? If a man has a hundred sheep, and one of them has gone astray, does he not leave the ninety-nine of the mountains and go in search of the one that went astray?"

Matthew 18:12

We all have played hide and seek as a child or experienced attempting to find something we have lost. Childhood games are no comparison to the search of God for His lost lambs. We have never looked for anything to the degree the Lord has come to us but may we consider the joy of finding that which was lost or hiding.

The Good Shepherd leaves the mountains and travels into the valley of death. There He went further into the darkness than any other. He was afflicted and bore the agony for all His lost lambs. We do not fully comprehend what Jesus left and experienced on our behalf so that we might be found.

The Chief Shepherd emerged from death wounded for our transgressions but victorious over sin, the grave, and death. Those who were lost in darkness have been found by Christ. He has taken us unto Himself and has given us a new name. Rejoice in knowing that He rejoices in finding you.

"Let your steadfast love comfort me according to your promise to your servant."

Psalm 119:76

Christ Himself is the promise unto us. He has promised never to forsake us, to be our peace and the one who guards our hearts and minds.

The promise of the Lord being our comfort is based on His steadfast love for us. We have nothing to offer, nothing to ensure His mercy towards us. Jesus, in His kindness, has chosen us and set His affection upon us.

If you are weary or perplexed today, come to the Father. Come to the throne of grace, and you shall find help in your time of need. We come in the name of the Lord and stand upon the promises He has given us. This is why we can have full assurance for the day and whatever season of life we find ourselves in. God's love is everlasting, and His kindness is unceasing.
