"Jesus stretched out his hand and touched him."

Matthew 8:3

Human nature desires to be touched—the touch of acceptance and acknowledgment.

The embrace between family members reminds one another that each person belongs. The friendly handshake of a friend or a stranger welcomes a person, inferring that one is accepted into fellowship.

There is the tenderness of wiping a tear or comforting someone hurting emotionally or physically. All of these expressions and more reassure the bond between individuals. What is amazing to consider is God's willingness to touch us.

Christ reached out and touched the leper. The man physically hurting and declared unclean by the law. We are sick in body and spirit as well. This has not hindered Christ from touching us.

Perhaps you are hurting today or lonely, needing a touch from God. Lift your heart to the Lord and He will refresh you. He has promised that there will never be anything in this life that can separate you from His love in Christ. The Lord holds you in the palm of His hand.

"May the Lord give strength to his people! May the Lord bless his people with peace!"

Psalm 29:11

Every person in this life desires to know what God promises in this verse, strength, and peace.

The trials of life take our strength and disturb the heart. There is a deep longing within the heart to rest, not only a momentary peace but one that is enduring. The people of God have a hope that the Lord is going to make all things new. When strength and peace will last for all eternity.

Jesus is our peace and strength today. The Spirit of God supplies our daily needs and gives us strength for the day. Our minds and hearts are guarded by Christ and kept in His reassuring peace.

Let us lay hold of this promise today, knowing the lasting fulfillment of permanent strength and peace is not too far off.

"He will surely be gracious to you at the sound of your cry. As soon as he hears it, he answers you."

Isaiah 30:19

Beloved, have you ever hesitated to ask for help? Perhaps you believed that your plea would not be received. Unfortunately, painful experiences have caused you to distrust. Your failures and the broken promises of others have quenched your faith.

May we all be healed from brokenness and be renewed in our faith. God has committed Himself unto His people. He has promised to be with and for us. The Lord knows all the details of our lives and has welcomed us into fellowship with Him.

The grace of God is ours in Christ. Our cries entreat the Lord, bringing His faithfulness and goodness to us. Do not hesitate, and do not doubt or be afraid. Lift your voice to the Lord, and He will answer you.
