“For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord....”

   Jeremiah 29:11

Beloved, what are your plans for today? Have you thought about next week? Do you have a five or ten-year plan in mind? What do you want to accomplish or where will you be a year from now?

Our plans are never certain and often perplexing. Even well-thought-out plans, prayed over and guided by counsel, still hold an element of the unknown.

However, these uncertainties should not discourage us from making plans. The unpredictability of tomorrow or unknown outcomes should not prevent us from striving forward. Instead, we are encouraged to plan, to take risks, and to hope because God has a plan. His purposes are always accomplished, as God is sovereign and all things occur according to His will.

We can find comfort in knowing that God’s plans include each of our lives. Nothing happens by chance; everything is part of His purpose and care for us. Take time to pray about your day. Think about what you hope for in the coming week, and take steps toward your goals for the year. As you do this, stay close to God’s Word. Ask Him to guide your thoughts and desires so they match His will. Even when you do not notice, He is leading you. His plan will come to pass. This truth can give you peace and strength, even when things do not seem to go as planned, because God is always in control.

In Christ Alone.
