“Blessed are those whose lawless deeds are forgiven, and whose sins are covered; blessed is the man against whom the Lord will not count his sin.”

   Romans 4:7-8

Beloved, in some way, we all understand the comfort that comes from being covered. A small child knows the comfort of a parent and is covered with the family blanket on a stormy night. Scars, blemishes, and open sores all can be covered. These coverings can be medicinal or cosmetic. We cover our heads for protection and shield our eyes, for they are vulnerable.

All of these experiences bring a sense of peace, hope, and joy. However, this cannot compare to the blessed reality of knowing that our sins have been covered by God. He has chosen to cover them so that they will never be looked upon again. All of our iniquity and the shame brought by our sin have been covered by God. Truly blessed is the one whom the Lord will not count their sin against them, but has chosen to cover us.

Rejoice in such a promise today.

In Christ Alone.
