God is Love | Sep. 3rd

“In this is love, not that we loved God but that he loved us and sent his Son to be the propitiation for our sins.”

  1 John 4:10

Many will say that God is love, and based upon that, He accepts anything we do. God simply loves everyone, so everyone is good.

However, John explains to us what God’s love looks like. God expressed His love by sending His only  Son, Jesus, into the world. The reason He came, though, was to die for our sins. Everyone has sinned and fallen short of God's glory. We cannot be and do whatever we want. Our sins separate us from God, so He had to reconcile us unto Himself. The only way this could happen is if Jesus came and died in our place for our sins.

We do not deserve and cannot ever earn God’s love. This is why His grace is amazing and what makes the Gospel message good news. God loved us first, and Christ came to take away the wrath we deserved and our shame. Let us humble ourselves before the mercy of God.

In Christ Alone.
