"Follow me, and I will make you fishers of men."

Matthew 4:19

ree

Fishing and hunting were a large part of my childhood. My father was an avid outdoorsman and owned an outdoor store. Many Saturdays, we traveled to different rivers, streams, ponds, and lakes to go fishing. As a child, I would travel up and down a brook that ran through town, fishing every chance I could.

Fishermen often greet one another with the question, " Did you get anything?" Jesus called these fishermen to follow Him and promised to make them fishers of men.

Beloved, this invitation was not intended only for them. Jesus invites all of us to follow Him, and the Spirit will help us to be fishers of men. We need to ask ourselves, " Have you caught anything?" May we be intentional about sharing the Gospel and looking for opportunities to invite people to church. Let us ask the Lord to help us to be avid fishers of men.

In Christ Alone,

Pastor Wight
