“Gladden the soul of your servant, for to you, O Lord, do I lift up my soul.”

    Psalm 86:4

Beloved, there are myriad things in this life that can sadden the heart. The death of a loved one, physical illness, and simple life changes exhaust the spirit. These life experiences, along with others, are why we need gladness to return.

Because of these dark moments, we discover that joy is no longer present and peace is fleeting. We often struggle to see the beauty that is in life. When such times come, it is good for us to turn to the Lord. We often bring many of our needs to God, as we should. Yet sometimes we hesitate or simply forget to ask for joy.

Let us ask the Lord, who is gracious, to fill us with joy. If we understand that the lovingkindness of God is unceasing, then we know He loves us, and that is cause for joy. Ask Him to bring happiness back into your spirit. May He open our understanding to all the beauty that is around us. Helping us to count our blessings each day. Ask the Lord to gladden your soul today,

In Christ Alone.
