“When Jesus had spoken these words, he lifted up his eyes to heaven.”

  John 17:1

Our Lord, with the gesture of His eyes in the midst of prayer, taught us to look to our heavenly Father and never to another.

On the darkest night in human history, Christ lifted his gaze to heaven. Speaking unto the Father on behalf of those present and for all those who would put their faith in Him throughout human history. This petition would keep these men in their greatest sorrow until the dawning of the resurrected Christ.

Let us lift our eyes to heaven, and may we turn our faces to the Heavenly Father. The One who can save us and keep us in the darkest of times. Nothing can separate us from the love He has for us in Christ Jesus. Look to Him and no other.

In Christ Alone.
