"He will again have compassion on us; he will tread our iniquities underfoot. You will cast all our sins into the depths of the sea."

    Micah 7:19

These words would have reminded the Israelites of God's deliverance at the Red Sea and the triumph over the Egyptians. There the Lord opened the sea so His people could safely pass through. Then, their enemies were overcome by those waters, never to rise again.

We have no greater enemy than our transgressions. Our sins haunt us, and the flesh prevails unless the Spirit of God empowers us. It is this new life we have in Christ that enables us to be more than conquerors.

The Lord had compassion on us and continues with steadfast love towards us. The Lord has trampled our transgressions underfoot with His life. Casting our sins, the enemy of our soul, into the sea, never to rise again. There they remain, powerless, never to condemn or disgrace those who are redeemed.

Rejoice this day that the Lord has thrown your sins into the sea. You have been born again by the Spirit of God and cleansed by the blood of the Lamb.

In Christ Alone,

Pastor Wight
