Our Only Hope | Sep. 2nd

“For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God, not a result of works, so that no one may boast.”

  Ephesians 2:8-9

Beloved, let us live in the light of these verses daily. For within them we find the Gospel and the hope of grace for daily living.

It is a constant reminder of our need for Christ and the salvation we have in Him. We cannot boast in anything before conversion, and there is never a place for boasting after the new life in Jesus. Works cannot save us, and works do not guarantee our eternal life. It is Christ alone.

Those who labor for the Lord do not stand upon what they have done; Jesus Christ is the only cornerstone and capstone. The grace of God guards us from pride and self-righteousness. It encourages us and works humility in our hearts before the Lord and others.

Let us trust in the grace of God alone, which has saved us but keeps us as well.

In Christ Alone.
