Rest For the Weary | July 20th

  “Jacob’s well was there; so Jesus, wearied as he was from his journey, was sitting beside the well. It was about the sixth hour.”

  John 4:6

  Beloved, can you imagine that the Son of God humbled Himself so greatly that He became wearied as we do? Jesus, tired from His travels and the activity of the day, sat beside the well, thirsty and tired.

  The Lamb of God, who would lay down His life for us, was already acting upon that sacrifice. Truly, He is acquainted with our sorrow and pain. When Scripture tells us to cast our cares upon the Lord, for He cares for us, let us take this to heart. The Lord is not far removed from us or unmoved by our trials. Rather, He is ever present and ready to help us.

  Do not believe you are alone today, and let not your heart be dismayed. Jesus was weary as you are, yet He overcame so we would have life more abundantly. Rest guarded by His peace, which keeps our thoughts and emotions at rest. All who are weary, come to Him, and you will find rest.
