“Jesus stretched out his hand and touched him.”

   Matthew 8:3

I recently caught my finger in a door. This resulted in the nail turning black. A visit to the doctor to cauterize the nail so the blood underneath would be released. Eventually, the nail fell off. The finger did not look well. On a couple of occasions, a cashier would cringe and hesitate to receive payment from that hand. So I would try to cover it until it was more presentable.

This is a far cry from leprosy, and leprosy is even less offensive than our sinful nature. Jesus still stretched out His hand to cleanse the leper and make him whole. Christ continues to stretch out His hand to make us whole. Let us be assured today that the loving, healing, and forgiving hand of God will still touch us. He knows that the only way our corruptible nature can be made clean is by the touch of the Holy Spirit.

The hand of the Lord is extended to you; be made whole.

In Christ Alone.
