“I will put this third into the fire, and refine them as one refines silver, and test them as gold is tested. They will call upon my name, and I will answer them.”

  Zechariah 13:9

With the recent snowfall, I noticed distinct animal prints in our backyard as I looked out the kitchen window. Curious, I went outside to investigate and realized these were fox tracks. A red fox often roams our yard, though we rarely see it because it’s elusive and usually visits at night. The fresh snow highlights the presence of animals we might not otherwise notice, as their tracks tell stories of their secretive lives.

Life's trials permitted by the Father benefit us. God knows our hearts and thoughts; He doesn't need to discover who we are. Instead, we need to understand ourselves.

We need to experience the genuineness of our professed faith. Thankfully, God is wise and compassionate as He refines us. With patience and good intentions, He works within our hearts through the circumstances of life. Beloved, trust that the Lord will finish the good work He has started in you and that all things are working for that good.

In Christ Alone.
