“..this is my God, and I will praise him, my father’s God, and I will exalt him. “

  Exodus 15:2

Beloved, what will you leave as an inheritance for your children and your children’s children? Will it be the family vacation home that has been with the family for generations? Perhaps you have set aside some money for them, or collected antiques, tea cups, a watch, or golf clubs.

These things have their place and can be appreciated, but hopefully you have stored up treasures that are far more valuable, sweet memories of humor, kindness, patience, or forgiveness. God willing, the thought of who you are as a person of integrity and godliness will be worth more than any material possession.

Is there still yet a greater treasure? One that is valuable in this life and extends into the one to come. Beloved, let our children, their children, and generations beyond declare that your God is their God, and together praise Him. All the things of this life will be left behind, and even our most cherished memories will eventually fade. It becomes harder with each generation to recall those who have gone before us, but the Lord, who is timeless, remains. Therefore, give Christ to your family: God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit. Let this be your greatest legacy. For if your God becomes their God, you will be reunited one day, not for a moment, but for eternity. Let this enduring hope strengthen and encourage you as you consider what truly matters most.

 “ comfort one another,”

  2 Corinthians 13:11

Beloved, this simple exhortation can be carried out by a child. Comforting another heart does not always require great strength; even patient listening can lift the heaviest burden from a broken spirit.

Comfort does not require wealth, the perfect solution, or the wisdom to resolve every issue. These things have their place, but even when resources or clear direction are lacking, let us not hold back from comforting others. Christ Himself is what we have to give, and He is always enough.

Sometimes it is just the sound of our voices that brings comfort; speak the words of God and comfort one another today. Let us resolve not merely to offer comfort in word but to embody it in deed, sharing Christ’s presence and peace wherever we are. Today, choose to be a bearer of comfort, becoming an instrument of His grace as you walk beside those in need.

“O Lord, you have searched me and known me!”

   Psalm 139:1

"God knows my heart" is a response I have often heard when someone chooses not to engage with a deeper truth. It can sometimes seem like a way of self-justification. Whether in a formal counseling setting or in a spontaneous conversation about life choices, if the answer is difficult to receive, the phrase "Well, God knows my heart" is often used. This can sometimes reflect the hope that God understands our hearts and our intentions, even when we fall short.

God, knowing our hearts and being holy, righteous, and omniscient, should bring fear, not false justification. The word of God tells us that the heart is desperately wicked and easily deceived. Why trust it? Our minds must be transformed by the Spirit and scripture. The Bible repeatedly warns us not to rely on ourselves but to acknowledge Christ’s lordship over every part of our lives.

God does know our hearts. He knows the motive and the true essence of who we are more than we know ourselves. Because of this, let us humble ourselves beneath His mighty hand while asking God to renew a right spirit within us.
