“He looked around at them with anger, grieved at their hardness of heart.”

  Mark 3:5

Beloved, our Lord's eyes are full of compassion as well as righteousness. We do well to follow His example of lovingkindness, but we also need to follow His example of righteous indignation. With that said, pause for a moment, and before our eyes fall on others with judgment, let us look inward.

Have we come to a place where we justify our sin? Do we blame others or our circumstances for why we are so easily provoked and struggle with our old nature? Has our heart hardened slowly over time in subtle ways because we have given up the hallowed ground piece by piece?

Let us ask for times of refreshing from the Holy Spirit. Let that fresh fire fall, consuming the sacrifice laid on the altar. To possess holy anger toward our sin and our hard hearts is a form of godliness. Pray that you see as the Lord sees as we request God’s mercy.

In Christ Alone.
