Bird Watching | Sep 9th
“Look at the birds of the air.”
Matthew 6:26
Beloved, when was the last time you took notice of a bird? The God of creation calls for us to take notice of creation so that we might learn from Him. Scripture is our absolute truth, and salvation in Christ is revealed to us by it. Still, the Lord encourages us to notice what He has provided through creation as lessons about His ways and attributes.
Jesus exhorts us not to be anxious for today not only by the promises of His word but also by seeing the birds that are around us. A form of birdwatching that involves theology. Seeing the unique beauty of each creature and the way God provides for them testifies to God’s wisdom, power, and compassion.
If these sometimes tiny birds are colorfully adorned, provided for, and given the instincts to migrate thousands of miles, why should we doubt God’s providence in our lives?
The human eye never sees many birds, yet they exist and are tended to by the God of creation. If God has redeemed you through Christ, how much more shall we be looked after? The promise of provision has come to us. The hope of mercy and grace has been extended to us who have fallen in sin. Let us pause today, look at the birds, look at creation, and ask the Holy Spirit to help you see the hand of God.
In Christ Alone.
