"Therefore lift your drooping hands."

Hebrews 12:12

The appeal to lift the hands hanging because of fatigue implies that there are times when the child of God is exhausted.

The fighter in the ring begins to drop his hands as each round continues. Late into the fight is when fatigue sets in, just as the runner wavers in a long-distance run. Their arms seem heavy with every stride, and each step becomes progressively more difficult.

The child of God can also become weary in well-doing. As we strive with our flesh, resist temptation, endure trials, and experience the testing of our faith, hands begin to droop.

Let us fix our eyes upon our Redeemer in such moments. May we remind ourselves that Jesus endured far more. He is working all things out for our good. If we know that God is for us and that nothing can separate us from His love, we can lift our hands in strength, peace, and joy. God will not forsake us, and His grace will be sufficient for the day.

In Christ Alone,

Pastor Wight
