True Family of God | May 28th

“Looking around at those who sat around him, he said, ‘Here are my mother and my brothers! For whoever does the will of God, he is my brother and sister and mother.”

  Mark 3:35-35

Mary and the brothers of Jesus waited outside the house, asking Him to come out to them. Their misguided concern for Jesus prompted this request. However, Jesus’ response was not a rejection but rather a lesson in true discipleship, emphasizing who genuinely belongs to Christ and to whom He belongs. It is only through the Spirit that one becomes part of Christ.

A disciple experiences fellowship with Christ, as symbolized by those seated around Him. This fellowship involves choosing to sit at the feet of Christ and attentively listen to His teachings. We do not instruct the Lord; rather, He instructs us. Followers of Jesus listen and obey, doing what He commands.

Beloved, to be disciples of Jesus, we must seek fellowship with Him, listen to His words, and obey His commands. Let us begin this day as true disciples of Christ, so that we may be recognized as those who have been with Jesus.

In Christ Alone.
