Wrestling with Wickedness | Sep. 11th

“Finally, be strong in the Lord and in the strength of his might. Put on the whole armor of God.

For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against.... the cosmic powers over this present darkness, against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly places.”

   Ephesians 6:10, 12

In every form of combat sports, there are weight classes. If you watch the Olympic Games, each discipline will have a weight class. Boxing, wrestling, Judo, and Taekwondo are all categorized into weight categories. If a featherweight is not expected to compete against a heavyweight, why should we believe we can stand alone against the present darkness? How can we resist cosmic powers alone?

Beloved, evil powers exist in this world. Spiritual forces of wickedness are at work each day.  We overcome not by our strength or wisdom. The Holy Spirit living inside of us is greater than the spirit of the age. We are called to be strong in the Lord, to rely upon His strength, and be clothed in the armor He has supplied.

Be strong in the Lord today. Commit yourself to God’s care while seeking Him in prayer and the reading of scripture. Christ has won the victory for us.

In Christ Alone.
