Waiting Patiently | Feb. 21st

"Be patient, therefore, brothers, until the coming of the Lord. See how the farmer waits for the precious fruit of the earth, being patient about it, until it receives the early and the later rains. You must also be patient."

James 5:7 - 8

There is a blanket of crystalized snow covering the ground. One can only hope for the coming of the growing season when the ground is softened, with the warmth of the sun and the early rains. The aroma and test of harvested fruits seem like a dream, but we shall partake.

Every generation of God's people waits for the coming of the Lord and His justice. We groan with creation, awaiting the redemption of all things. Scriptures exhort us to remain faithful and patient. We patiently wait to see the fruit of our labors, knowing nothing is in vain.

May we hear, " Well done, My good and faithful servant." When that day comes, we will enter into our rest and see the fruit of the harvest. Be patient, beloved, and remain steadfast.

When the Lights are Out | Feb. 20th

"Who among you fears the Lord and obeys the voice of his servant? Let him who walks in darkness and has no light trust in the name of the Lord and rely on his God."

Isaiah 50:10

Beloved, are you perplexed? Are you confused by what God is doing or has allowed in your life? Perhaps you are at a crossroads, unsure of what direction to take, uncertain about tomorrow, and confused.

When there is uncertainty, let us remember God's providence. What is veiled and unknown to us is fully known by God. All of our days are before Him in perfect order. Nothing is uncertain or unclear. He knows the beginning to the end of all things.

Those who walk in obedience are assured that their steps are ordered by God. They can fully trust that the Lord is working all things for their good. In this uncertain time trust the Lord is still holding you and is at work on your behalf.

Slow to Speak Feb. 19th

" A fool's lips walk into a fight, and his mouth invites a beating. A fool's mouth is his ruin, and his lips are a snare to his soul."

Proverbs 18:6-7

Beloved, how often do you find yourself in an argument? Do you experience personality conflicts with strangers and people that you know? Do you understand this should not be a regular occurrence for a believer?

You may not consider yourself a fool or unwise because of your intelligence or education, but God's word would judge you otherwise. The child of God possesses wisdom and discretion concerning their conduct and speech.

The foolish find the need to share their opinion on everything with everyone. The constant need for debate, explanation, and proof of one's position on a subject displays pride and a lack of wisdom. Let us ask the Lord to teach us restraint. To season our words with grace and to know when something should or should not be shared. With the help of the Spirit, we can be slow to speak and quick to listen. Having life in our words rather than contention.
