" Where shall I go from your Spirit? Or where shall I flee from your presence?"

Psalm 139:7

ree

There is something comforting about a familiar face or place. Our human nature tends to be at peace when things remain the same. After a long day at work or travel, we look forward to being home and surrounded by those we love and who love us. Sleeping in our bed is comforting and usually produces a good night's rest.

Unfortunately, life does not remain the same. People come in and out of our lives. We change, people change, and the world around us continues to change. Nothing remains the same, and that which was familiar no longer exists. This can be unsettling and erode our peace. Where do we find peace in an ever-changing world?

God remains the same; He is immutable. The eternal Lord is also omnipresent; He is everywhere, and thankfully, we cannot escape Him. When things are unfamiliar and changing, know that the Ancient of Days is always with you and you will never be separated from the Lord. No matter where you are or what you go through, God is with you. The Spirit of God and His love are always with you.

"Keep your life free from the love of money, and be content with what you have."

ree

Hebrews 13:5

There is a high probability that many of us do not consider ourselves a lover of money, but what if we replace the word money with something that we value highly?

There are things that we do not mind spending large sums of money for or time obtaining. Perhaps this is where we are not content. Before we dismiss the subtlety of discontent let us be reminded that there were the angels who fell because they were not content. Adam and Eve were in the Garden of Eden but not content. May the Lord help us to be content today and with what He has blessed us with.

Discontent sees the world in grays rather than the beauty of the day. There is no harm in wanting more or striving to make things better but let us be convinced that the Lord will supply our daily needs and let us trust His goodness. Let us learn to be content as the Apostle Paul. Whether in little or much we can do all things through Christ because He is the source of our joy and peace. Be grateful for what you have.

"In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will direct your paths."

Proverbs 3:6

Have you entrusted your future to God? To be more specific, is there a current circumstance on the forefront of your mind that concerns you today?

We bring situations to the Lord in prayer that we constantly replay in our minds. We imagine our response to the different circumstances or potential outcomes. Each scenario played over and over, can lead to further anxiety.

Beloved, in our act of bringing everything to God in prayer, we must trust His providence. We must believe that God will give us the grace to receive whatever the outcome is in any event in life. That His mercy is involved and that the Lord is always with us. God is willing and able to help us. The Lord will keep us from all evil and no good thing will He withhold.

Do not weary yourself by trying to imagine what will be or how things will turn out. Acknowledge the Lord today and in all your decisions. The details of your life are before God and He is working all things for your redemptive good. We may not always understand, but God knows the beginning to the end and what is best.
