" Those who are well have no need of a physician, but those who are sick. I came not to call the righteous, but sinners."

Mark 2:17

It is that time of year when you see reminders to get the flu or Covid shot. For many the concern of Covid has come and gone. With the changing of the leaves, people become more aware of cold and flu-like symptoms and take the necessary preventive measures to be well.

Sadly, we should be more mindful of our souls' condition. Many assume that they are healthy but do not realize that they are dead in their sins and need the Savior. Others have not cast off those things that easily entangle them or have sought the Lord to create within them a clean heart.

We are regenerated in salvation once, but sanctification is an ongoing process. It is more than a seasonal occurrence; it is a daily need to surrender to the Holy Spirit. May we seek the healing our hearts need today from Christ. He alone can help us, and thankfully, the Lord is willing to cure us of all our diseases.

"His faithfulness is a shield and buckler."

Psalm 91:4

Are you struggling today, beloved? Do you feel the tension within, between your will and the Fathers? Is the spirit of this age assaulting your mind? Is the burden of your trials bringing you to a place of despair?

Then call on the Lord. Tell God that you are weary. Ask Him to strengthen you and to protect you amid the battle. Sometimes, we do not feel we can resist everything against us. Maybe you feel so exhausted it is hard to believe in God for the strength to carry on.

The Lord has promised to surround you with His protection. He has pledged to keep you and sustain you. The Lord will not leave you to yourself or allow the trials and the enemy to destroy you.

Ask the Lord to cover you in your weariness and fears. Ask God to preserve you and for His will to be accomplished. The faithfulness of God surrounds your life today.

"For as often as you eat this bread and drink the cup, you proclaim the Lord's death until he comes."

1 Corinthians 11:26

Every family has a unique way of greeting one another or saying goodbye. My mother will say faithfully each time, "Goodbye for now." This is the acknowledgment of departure but the anticipation of coming together again. The absence is momentary, so don't be too sad.

The teaching here in Paul's letter concerning communion has the same feeling. I think Christ wants us to think of Him this way when we partake of the Lord's supper.

We are remembering what Christ has done for us and we are to partake often until He comes but that is part of the point. It is "Goodbye for now."

Christ is coming back for His people and we should look forward to it.

The separation is momentary. We will see Jesus and all those who have gone before us. Look forward to that day and may you love Christ's appearance.
