“Put on your beautiful garments.”
Isaiah 52:1
Beloved, do you have a favorite outfit or a cherished piece of jewelry that you anticipate wearing? Often, we reserve such items for special occasions, or they simply uplift our spirits. Recently, my wife and I visited a store where the clerk admired the garment my wife was purchasing. The salesperson remarked on the beauty of its color and shared that wearing red, particularly during difficult times, always improves their mood.
Personally, I own cufflinks that belonged to my Granddad, and I cherish wearing them because they remind me of him. Such items are blessings in our lives, yet their comfort is temporary. There are times when even the color red cannot lift our spirits, and even objects with deep sentimental value cannot provide lasting joy or strength during challenging seasons.
Only the robes given to us by Christ truly satisfy the weary soul. His garment of holiness and righteousness covers our vulnerability and removes the shame of sin. His armor strengthens us and enables us to endure adversity. Beloved, the Spirit of God offers us a garment of praise in place of our weariness. He anoints us with the oil of joy, causing sorrow and sighing to depart.
Let us put on the beautiful garment of Christ today, clothed in His beauty and sheltered by His banner of love. In Him, we discover peace, a covering that remains sufficient and enduring.
In Christ Alone.
