“…though now for a season…you have been grieved by various trials.”

  1 Peter 1:6

“… this light momentary affliction ...”

  2 Corinthians 4:17

Beloved, certain moments in traffic can feel as though we have spent a lifetime in the car. Similarly, there are agonizingly slow days or seasons of profound sorrow that appear endless. We may question how long we will remain in such circumstances and whether this suffering will ever cease.

The reality is that we are not destined to remain in this present state indefinitely. Eternity is nearer than we often realize. We will dwell with our Lord eternally, who has gone ahead to prepare a place for us. No trial, pain, sorrow, frustration, weariness, or death will remain forever. All the afflictions of this life will pass away, but those who are in Christ will endure forever.

We will be ushered into eternal rest, for the Savior has provided eternal life. In Him, we are secure as we await the moment when all these hardships will cease. Do not grow weary in doing good today. Do not allow your heart to be dismayed by various trials; remember, they are temporary, even when they seem unending. When He renews all things, every sorrow will be forgotten, and we will weep no more. Even so, come quickly, Lord Jesus.

In Christ Alone.
