“The heavens declare the glory of God, and the sky above proclaims his handiwork. Day to day pours out speech, and night to night reveals knowledge.”
Psalm 19:1-2
Winter mornings this time of year can be cold and dark. With the recent snow, the canopy of heaven appeared low and heavy, the gray clouds releasing their snowy flakes. While we passed a small cove, the water reflected the gray sky above, appearing colder and deeper than usual. But along the shore, there were two brilliant, majestic white swans. Their presence became a reminder of vibrant life amid winter's stillness. Just as these swans bring thoughts of spring, so too can moments in creation prompt us to reflect on the deeper lessons God reveals through the world around us.
Beloved, we are surrounded by God’s beautiful work each day. These reminders, like the swans and winter landscape, draw our attention to His wisdom, power, and faithfulness in creation. From these scenes, we are reminded not worship creation but to acknowledge the Creator revealed in His works. With each new sight and experience, consider what lessons you received from the Lord today. How has scripture opened your eyes to the world around you and God’s fingerprint upon the earth and heavens?
Let us earnestly invite the Holy Spirit to illuminate the word of God within us and actively open our hearts to receive the lessons He imparts each day. May we remain attentive and responsive, delighting in the majesty of God revealed to us both day and night in creation.
Scripture is telling us that the heavens declare God’s glory and can speak to us each day. Lessons to be learned from night to night. Let us be teachable.
In Christ Alone.
