When We Don't Understand | July 8th

“And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.”

  Philippians 4:7

Beloved, this passage does not encourage ignorance or a deliberate denial of reality. Instead, it affirms the reality of God’s peace and invites trust in His sustaining grace throughout life.

Truth comes from God, and He is the Creator; therefore, He does not call us to ignore reality, but to trust His providence in our lives. Not everything in life can be explained or satisfy our questions, even when brought in prayer. Yet in perplexity and the unknown, there is peace that surpasses our doubts, anxieties, and present circumstances.

God provides comfort during times of distress. He grants His peace, which steadies both emotions and thoughts. Rest is possible even amid life’s storms because Christ remains present. Paul reminded the church that God sustained him even before their support arrived. Human needs are genuine, and so is God’s peace; the encouragement received through others is also a blessing. However, even in solitude or when immediate help is absent, the Lord remains present. His peace will sustain, and His grace will prove sufficient. Cast all your cares upon the Lord, for He cares for you.

In Christ Alone.
